The marathon’s course will be a near carbon copy of the Olympic Marathon, which has significant symbolic weight.
It was modeled after the path taken by 6,000–7,000 Parisian women and a small number of men on October 5–6, 1789, during the pivotal “Women’s March on Versailles,” which began at the Louvre and ended at the Tuileries Palace.
Louis XVI signed the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen that day.
Beginning in the Hôtel de Ville’s courtyard, the Marathon Pour Tous will wind its way to Versailles and back through Paris before ending on the Esplanade des Invalides.
Runners will traverse urban, park, and forest settings while passing through the city’s most recognizable sights and monuments.
On the same day, teenagers and young adults (16 and above) may participate in a shorter and easier 10K event. Both races are yet to have a date confirmed.
